A marathon race will be held in Karachi on December 25 to promote environmental awareness, said KMC Administrator Murtaza Wahab on Sunday.
Addressing a press conference at Bagh Ibn Qasim Clifton, he said Karachi Green Marathon, being held on Quaid-e-Azam’s birthday, will have two categories 10 kilometres and five kilometres.
The first prize for 10km race will be Rs75,000, second Rs50,000 and third Rs35,000 while in the 5km race the first prize will be Rs50,000, second Rs35,000 and third Rs20,000.

All citizens over the age of 16 can participate in this marathon and their free registration process has started. He said that revival of sports activities would bring back the colors of Karachi.
“Playgrounds and parks are public property of the citizens of Karachi and their maintenance is our responsibility,” he said. The administrator said that Karachi will be made green and playgrounds will be equipped with sports for youth.
