In pictures: Vicky Kaushal, Katrina Kaif dance the night away in grand Mehendi ceremony

The couple took to Instagram to share a glimpse into the laughter-filled event

Filled to the brim with colours, marigolds and twinkling lights, Bollywood It couple Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal’s grand Mehendi ceremony was a traditional and fun-filled affair. With the event taking place prior to the couple’s wedding ceremony on December 9, the celebrity duo took to Instagram to share a glimpse into the festivities.

The bride and groom both captioned their Mehendi posts in Punjabi, writing, “Mehendi taa sajdi je nache saara tabbar!” The two were all smiles while dancing the night away along with friends and family.

The couple was pictured dancing while hoisted up on the shoulders of the wedding party, with Vicky gesturing towards an out-of-focus Katrina in typical filmy fashion in another.

As expected, the couple was dressed in outfits by Bollywood wedding-staple designer Sabyasachi, who dressed the two throughout their wedding festivities. Katrina wore a mustard-coloured lehenga-choli with accents in shades of green, pink, red and gold, in keeping with traditional Mehendi attire.

The outfit was accompanied by a tulle dupatta with heavy gold borders perfect for the bride. Describing Katrina’s look, a post on Sabyasachi’s official Instagram page read that it was inspired by the “diversity of India’s regional folklore, crafts and nomadic culture, and layers cheent prints with hand-fringed embellishments, brass sequins and heavily embroidered borders.” The Baar Baar Dekho actor accessorised with traditional Navratan jewellery.

Vicky donned a pale yellow silk kurta paired with an ivory shalwar. Speaking about Vicky’s colourful waistcoat, which complimented Katrina’s outfit perfectly, the post on Sabyasachi’s page read that it was “an embroidered raw silk bandhgala jacket with coromandel chintz prints.”

The couple tied the knot in an extravagant wedding ceremony on December 9 that took place at the Six Senses Fort Barwara in Rajasthan. "Only love and gratitude in our hearts for everything that brought us to this moment. Seeking all your love and blessings as we begin this new journey together," the couple wrote while sharing pictures from the event. The two also shared images from their Haldi ceremony earlier this week.

According to reports, the consistent secrecy around Bollywood’s lovebirds Katrina and Vicky’s romantic journey to their royal nuptials has been all a part of a bigger plan. For the couple’s fans to get full access to the inside of the destination wedding, the couple officially sold the telecast rights of their wedding to streaming giant Amazon Prime Video for a staggering amount of INR 800 million, reported Mid-day.
