The Punjab government has increased the size of the Annual Development Programme 2021-22 by over Rs85 billion, taking it to Rs646 billion from its original allocation of Rs560 billion.

“This increase is a record increase in the history of the province, which was approved on the recommendations of various departments. The funds were increased for speedy completion of development schemes,” Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht expressed these views while addressing a meeting of the Cabinet Standing Committee on Finance and Development on Thursday.

The minister informed the meeting that most of the additional funds will be spent on health, education and infrastructure projects.

“The Punjab Special Health and Medical Education Department will receive additional funds of Rs 18,526 million for the completion of 22 health schemes across the province while the Punjab Primary and Secondary Health Department will receive Rs7,500 million for the completion of six schemes. The Lahore Development Authority will receive additional funds of Rs7,000 million,” he added.

On the occasion, the Minister directed all provincial departments to pay attention to the completion of schemes included in the Annual Development Programme and ensure the provision of services to the people.

“All should focus on monitoring and evaluation process to ensure efficient utilisation of the funds,” he added.
