Citizen fired at alleged robbers, killing one and wounding another

A robber was killed while another was injured during a shoot-out between the robbers and a citizen on Dr Qadir Khan Road in the jurisdiction of Sadiqabad police station.

Police said the witnesses told them two armed robbers on a motorcycle intercepted a citizen who had Rs1.5 million and tried to snatch cash from him at gunpoint. They added that the citizen fired at the robbers owing to which one of them died on the spot while the other suffered injuries. The citizen also got injured in retaliatory firing by a robber.

Rescue 1122 teams reached the site and shifted the casualties to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital.

Operations SSP Rai Mazhar said that one of the robbers was firing at the citizen but the bullet struck his accomplice. The slain robber has been identified as Shakeel Shah and he had a criminal record. The suspect was wanted to the police since 2004 and nine cases were registered against him.

Iqbal said I-9 police registered three cases against the suspect in 2004 and another three in 2015. He added that Shehzad Town police registered a case against him in 2009 while Sabzi Mandi police registered a robbery case against him in 2015. A case has been registered.
