Protesters block road, demand action against cops

JARANWALA:

A factory worker was looted by two police personnel during a check post in the city on Friday.

The cops were taken into police custody over the public protest lead by the victim on Satiana Road.

Dozens of people blocked Satiana Road to protest against police department for not taking a serious action against the cops involved in the robbery.

The public demanded that a case of robbery should be registered against the detained police employees.

The victim Adnan alias Mitho, a resident of Chak 91 GB told police that he was returning home from his workplace, when he reached the turn of 90 GB, two cops identified as Rabnawaz and Afzal stopped him and robbed him at gunpoint.

The victim, along with his mates blocked the road and chanted slogans against the Satiana police.

Meanwhile, DSP Jaranwala Jamshed Iqbal Nasir Chishti, along with his team reached the spot and detained the two policemen.

DSP Jamshed Iqbal Nasir Chishti, on the orders of city police officer Dr Muhammad Abid Khan was investigating the matter.

During the initial investigation, the suspect police personnel denied the robbery charges.

The police was investigating the matter further.
