Omicron not detected in 57 Covid positive patients

The new variant has reached 22 countries including the United Arab Emirates

For the first time, genome sequencing techniques were introduced at Dow University's Provincial Public Health Laboratory. Tests on 57 covid positive patients in 24 hours have not yet detected Omicron.

Project Director Professor Saeed Khan told The Express Tribune that the vaccine related to covid has not yet been able to stop the 100 per cent transmission of the coronavirus but the fact is that the vaccine is playing an important role in preventing the spread of the virus.

He said that Omicron variant has spread through travelers in 24 countries of the world.

"Medical experts are anxious over the spread of this new variant and are concerned that with the new variant the fifth wave of covid has started in the world," he said and added that more new variants of the coronavirus would emerge in the future.

The new variant Omicron has reached 22 countries including the United Arab Emirates.
