98% work of Gulab Devi underpass completed: SACM

Says both projects will be completed two months ahead of schedule

Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Information and Spokesperson for the Punjab Government Hasaan Khawar has said 98% of construction work of Gulab Devi Underpass has been completed and after completion, the project would ease traffic congestion in the metropolis.

He said the project is part of Usman Buzdar's Lahore Package, and proof of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) commitment to excellence as far as urban infrastructural development is concerned.

Briefing the media on the project, he said the completion of this project would ease traffic congestion and facilitate timely access of patients to the hospital.

Khawar said this environment-friendly signal-free corridor will accommodate more than 1.5 million vehicles going to Kasur daily as well as save Rs50 million annually in terms of fuel consumption. He further said that this project, estimated at Rs1.75 billion, will be completed two months shy of the actual deadline, and will save Rs. 12 million in construction cost.

He said under the Lahore Package, four flyovers and three underpasses would be given to the citizens by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

On the other hand, an emergency hospital and trauma centre will also be built near Arfa Karim Tower, PC-1 of which has been passed. The SACM said the plan to build nine underground rainwater storage dams in Lahore would also be a gift for the people of Lahore.

Responding to questions of media persons, Khawar said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is challenging the law by boldly confessing its crimes through audio and videos.
