Ihteram-I-Ramazan: 19 booked for violating ordinance

Found owners of five hotels, canteens and shops selling food during fasting hours.

FAISALABAD: A special raiding team of the City District Government (CDG) has rounded up 12 owners of hotels and canteens for violating the Ihteram-i-Ramazan Ordinance. A CDG spokesperson said multiple raids were conducted all over the city including Jhang Bazaar, Regal Chowk and Douglas Pura and police found owners of five hotels, canteens and shops selling food during fasting hours.  Consequently, the raiding officer has sent the two men behind bars for 72 hours each. Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Jaranwala Adnan Shehzad found 7 hotel owners violating the ordinance. The men have been fined and jailed for 24 hours. The raiding officer also imposed a fine of Rs7,000 on each of the accused.

The Rs7,000 is going to go into the pocket of the "raiding officer". Indeed Interam-e-Ramzan.
