College left with two professors for 1,800 students

Parents demand immediate recruitment as local teachers provide voluntary service

HAZRO:

Two professors and the principal of Government Shuja Khanzada Shaheed Associate College for Boys Hazro currently make up the total faculty for 1,800 students.

Parents have protested the lack of teachers in the educational institution and demanded the government to take notice of the situation.

The admission process in the first year in the college is underway, while nearly 1,100 students are already enrolled in the college. Most of the students belong to poor families who cannot afford private colleges.

As of now, the associate college is only left with two professors and a principal while the education department has recently transferred four professors from there, ignoring the dearth of educators.

When contacted, Principal Professor Muhammad Zakaria confirmed that currently, they have two teachers deployed through the public service commission while four have been transferred recently.

Due to the critical situation, the principal requested some local qualified teachers to render their services temporarily to prevent wasting the students’ time.

Around six teachers are voluntarily serving in the college, while it is expected that some more educators will be appointed on internship from next month.

Public representatives, including Special Assistant to Prime Minister Malik Amin Aslam, Member of National Assembly Major Tahir Sadiq and others, have yet to take any measures in this regard despite being aware of the matter. The parents of the enrolled students have demanded recruitment on the empty seats of teachers at the earliest.

They also called for PML-N MPA Jehangir Khanzada to raise the matter in the assembly so the children of the poor families could continue their education.
