PESHAWAR:

A student of Fine Arts Department, University of Peshawar (UoP) has designed currency notes made of plastic which can not only withstand a dip in the water but are also more lasting. Noorul Hassan took four years to design these currency notes and he hopes that one day it would be adopted officially.

His supervisor Professor Younas Masud told The Express Tribune that the project was a challenging one and time consuming at the same time.

“After four years of hard labour the design has been finalized,” he said, adding that the effort has been appreciated widely. Noorul Hassan said that these notes are made of plastic and therefore more durable than the paper currency. He said that if these notes are adapted then tourism will also be promoted along with the historical sites of the country.

“Those people who visit Pakistan they first change their currency notes and they will see the pictures of historic sites as well as tourism attractions,” he said, adding that even people with vision problems could also recognize these notes easily by touching it.
