Power supply project inaugurated in Model Town

Provincial Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Department Malik Asad Ali Khokhar has said that the government is striving to provide relief to masses and aiming to provide roof to every family.

He was addressing a review meeting on the Model Town Housing Scheme at the deputy commissioner's office here on Thursday.

The minister said that power supply project had been inaugurated in Model Town while other departmental barriers would also be removed in a few days to ensure provision of roof to hundreds of families.

He said that 100,000 people were being recruited across Punjab, including 6,500 in the Housing, Public Health Engineering and PHA.

The minister said appointment to these posts would further improve performance of the institutions.

Khokhar said that Water and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) was being set up in Sargodha to solve problems of sewerage and clean drinking water on a permanent basis, and Rs25 million had been allocated for the Authority in Punjab budget under the Annual Development Programme.

The Asian Development Bank would also spend millions of rupees to ensure supply of sewerage and clean drinking water facilities in Sargodha city, he added.

The meeting was informed that Model Town Lahore Road covers an area of 410 acres with a total of 3,081 plots, out of which 2,535 plots had been allotted.

The meeting was informed that out of 540 plots in Model Town, it has been decided to auction 148 more plots which would be distributed in a transparent manner through lottery.

The heads of various departments briefed the meeting participants about performance of their respective departments and future steps to be taken.
