Bigg Boss 15: Salman Khan called out for not addressing Islamophobic comments

Contestants Umar Riaz and Simba Nagpal got into a heated argument where Simba went on to call Umar a 'terrorist'

The Indian reality show, Bigg Boss is currently running its 15th season. For the last few years, the reality show has had its fair share of drama and controversies. Be it romance or squabble, Bigg Boss has managed to keep the audience hooked with its antics. With Bollywood star Salman Khan as its host, the show has gone on to garner an elaborate fan base. However, the current season of the reality show has surpassed all levels of fights, drama and mind games after a contestant made Islamophobic comments to a fellow housemate. 

Last week, during the captaincy task in Bigg Boss 15, Umar Riaz and Simba Nagpal were battling it out being in the opposite teams. The two got into a verbal spat and Umar started abusing Simba, this soon turned into a heated argument. Simba pushed the former into the swimming pool and threw a basket at him while passing some problematic remarks against Umar. He went on to call Umar a 'terrorist.'

The followers of the show were eagerly waiting for the Weekend Ka Vaar episode, hoping Salman to give an earful to Simba for his behaviour. But to their dismay, Salman categorically ignored Simba's actions and went on to talk about less important things for the roundup. Many users took to social media to express their anger and demanded Salman's resignation as the show host.

One user wrote, "Shame on Colours TV and Bigg Boss for cleverly muting the part where Simba called Umar Riaz atankwadi (terrorist) and Salman didn't even discuss that matter." The user further added, "Salman Khan, did Umar provoke your Simba even for this Islamophobic comment? The audience is with Umar Riaz."

Another user tweeted, "Being a fan of Salman Khan, it pains me to see the way the makers of Bigg Boss 15, hand him over a scripted pitch which holds no truth! Shame on Colors TV. Siimba Nagpal instigated Umar Riaz and everyone is a witness to it."

One more penned, "I think the silence of Colors TV and Bigg Boss15 against Simba speaks that they will put an excuse that this push was during the execution of task so demands no action but still waiting how Salman Khan will name and shame Simba for his inappropriate Islamophobia remarks and his push."

In the weekend episode, the Dabangg star had called out Simba on his inappropriate behaviour with Umar. However, he said that he could understand that Simba's actions were a response to Umar's constant instigation. As a punishment, Salman announced that Simba will not be eligible to participate in the race to Finale tasks in the upcoming week. But, Salman's stand on the incident did not go down well with a lot of netizens.
