RAWALPINDI:

The diffusion of ammonia gas from an ice factory in the Gawalmandi area has put the health of the locals at risk.

The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) officials have lent a deaf ear to the complaints made by the locals against the illegal ice factory in the residential area.

The locals, including Shahid Pervaiz, Ramiz, Osama, Arshad, and Zulqarnain said ammonia gas is released from the ice factory which is causing respiratory problems to the residents. They said the RCB administration has not taken any action yet despite several complaints.

The locals said the ice-making process continue from morning to night and diffusion of gas continues throughout this period. A resident named Rashid Mehmood said the ice factory in the residential area was established two years earlier and is owned by an influential figure.
