Alvi asks businesses to employ women

Emphasises need for facilitating differently-abled people

ISLAMABAD:

Businesses should employ women and differently-abled people and should focus on improving their skills to empower them financially, said President Dr Arif Alvi.

Talking to a delegation of Entrepreneurs Organisation on Wednesday, the president emphasised the need for facilitating differently-abled people by providing them easy access to buildings and workplaces.

He said that the government was taking every possible measure to provide a level-playing field to the business community and entrepreneurs.

He underlined that the business community needed to adopt an outward-looking approach and remain abreast of the changing trends in the international market, which would enable them to compete in regional and global markets.

He highlighted that the main focus of the government’s economic strategy was to boost exports, reduce trade deficit and support the underprivileged sections of society.

The president said that the investment policy had been designed to provide a comprehensive framework for creating conducive business environment and attracting foreign investors.

He said that the ease of doing business reforms, initiated by the government, had improved Pakistan’s ranking in the Ease of Doing Business Index from 136 to 108.

On the occasion, the delegation apprised the meeting of its contribution to exports and providing employment to the people.

The delegation expressed satisfaction over the economic policies of the government and lauded the business and investment-friendly policies.

About the problems being faced by the Entrepreneurs Organisation, Alvi assured the delegation of addressing their grievances by taking them up with the departments concerned. APP
