Jamaat-e- Islami (JI) Karachi chief Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Tuesday participated in the online National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) hearing and strongly rejected the proposed increase in power tariff.
The JI leader during the hearing also highlighted the bias of higher authorities in the favour of the K-Electric.
He also charged the federal government for sheltering the misdeeds committed by the private power company. Naeem said that till date 60 per cent people in Karachi face load shedding. He said that the K-E did not spend money on up gradation of the system while the consumers bear the brunt of this failure in the shape of line losses.

He raised the question that why the PTI government was safe guarding the illegal accords signed by previous governments. He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has gathered all the former ministers as new faces in his cabinet.
The JI leader recalled that in March 2020, the government had unearthed a detailed report on payments to IPPs, showing that additional payments were made. He raised the point that why the government did not order a forensic audit of the payments.
