WUM honours first 8 PhDs

68 graduates awarded gold medals at convocation

MULTAN:

The Women University Multan (WUM) honoured its1,768 graduates, including the first eight PhDs in its third convocation held at Matital Campus.

The students who graduated in 2014-18, 2016-18, 2015-19 and 2017-19 sessions were awarded degrees and medals.

At the event, eight Doctors of Philosophy (PhDs) were conferred degrees for the first time since the university was established in 2012.

As many as 64 graduates were awarded gold medals during the convocation.

FBR Taxation Commissioner Zahida Sarfaraz was the chief guest on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, she congratulated the graduates, parents and faculty members and wished them all the best for future pursuits. She stated that the government had focused on education, especially women education, because no society could progress without seeking knowledge.

WUM Vice Chancellor Dr Uzma Quraishi said Punjab government had released Rs200 million for various projects of the varsity, which would be utilised for constructing new blocks and laboratories.
