The federal government has disbursed a sum of Rs2.4 billion in development funds among seven Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawmakers of the National Assembly and Punjab Assembly from Rawalpindi district.
All seven members belonging to the Rawalpindi district have received Rs340 million each under the development funds.
Federal Parliamentary Secretary Sheikh Rashid Shafique said that the recently disbursed sum of Rs2.4 billion by the federal government will go a long way in resolving the basic problems of the Rawalpindi district.
Shafique told The Express Tribune that he and Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed have already doled out Rs7.5 million each to all 70 union councils (UCs) for upgrading the sewerage system.
He said that they have also dispensed Rs150 million in their respective constituencies for the installation of 15 new tube wells and water filtration plants.

Meanwhile, Rs50 million from the funds will be spent on the construction of a new building for the girls’ school at Dhoke Gangal. New classrooms and laboratories will be established at the school, which has been elevated to the status of a higher secondary institute.
Similarly, the Gulistan Colony High School and the Murree Road Boys School have been provided with Rs20 million and Rs15 million respectively.
PTI MNA from Murree Sadaqat Abbasi said that his share of he sum will be used to fund new water supply schemes in Murree, Kotli Sattiyan, Kahuta, and Kalar Syedan tehsils.
Additionally, he said that eight schools will be upgraded and a sports complex equipped for indoor games as well as hockey and football will also be constructed.
