Celebs react to Pakistan’s win against Afghanistan in T20 thriller

Momina Mustehsan, Humayun Saeed among others who took to social media to express their joy

Pakistan’s latest T20 match against Afghanistan was a test of every Pakistani cricket fan’s faith, with the team pulling through in the final overs for a thrilling win. Cricketer Asif Ali turned the tide of the match, hitting a series of high-powered shots to help Pakistan emerge victorious. The 30-year-old smashed pacer Karim Janat for four sixes in the 19th over to take Pakistan past a tricky 148-run target, giving them three wins in as many games in the Group 2 of the Super 12 Stages.

Several fans took to social media to express their joy and compliment the team’s stellar performance, with celebrities including Humayun Saeed, Ushna Shah and Momina Mustehsan taking to Twitter to share celebratory messages. 

Appreciating the effort of both teams, with the match being a close call, Momina tweeted, “Brilliant game of cricket! Very well played by both teams! ACB, kudos to you, and PCB - CONGRATULATIONS! Perhaps not too soon to point out the discipline and consistency that our team is displaying.”

Ushna called for greater opportunities for the team members, given their incredible performance. She tweeted, “Boys in green better get some high-level international brand endorsements after they bring home the cup.” 

Humayun shared his thoughts on the win, writing, Another great match, another big win Masha Allah. Asif Ali, what a confident player!! To choose to play that over and deliver with aplomb - Well done, Asif Ali! Good innings by Babar Azam too. Our chances of reaching the final looking bright Insha Allah. Keep it up, boys!”

Echoing a sentiment held by most Pakistani cricket fans at the moment, Kubra Khan tweeted a relatable message

Comparing this tournament to the previous ones played by Pakistan, Farhan Saeed shared that he hasn't witnessed such enthusiasm on part of the Pakistani team in a long time.
