The government has requested the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) to increase the base electricity tariff by Rs1.39 per unit.

After a series of hikes in electricity prices this month, the government is now seeking to increase the base energy tariff.

The federal government submitted a petition with Nepra, asking it to increase the base electricity tariff by Rs1.39 per unit. In response, Nepra issued notices to the parties concerned.

According to documents available with The Express Tribune, the increase in base tariff will be applicable to consumers across the country.
