12 die in 1,088 road crashes across Punjab

About 69 per cent of accidents involved motorcycles

At least 12 people were killed whereas 1,121 suffered injuries in 1,088 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the past 24 hours. In these RTCs, 643 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals whereas, 478 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site by Rescue 1122 Medical Teams.

The majority of accidents, around 69 per cent, involved motorcycles. Furthermore, the analysis showed that 494 drivers, 42 underage drivers, 120 pedestrians, and 519 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes.

The statistics showed that 272 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 252 persons, placing the provincial capital at the top of the list followed by 82 accidents in Multan with 93 victims and at third Faisalabad with 78 RTCs and 85 victims.

The details further revealed that 1,133 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 885 male & 248 female victims.

The age group of the victims showed that 222 were under 18 years of age, 582 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 329 victims were reported to be above 40 years of age.
