12 killed in Punjab road accidents

Statistics show that 228 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 222 persons

At least 12 people died, whereas 1018 were injured in 953 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Out of this, 641 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals. Whereas, 377 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site.

The majority (66%) involved motorbikes. Further, the analysis showed that 413 drivers, 52 underage drivers, 101 pedestrians, and 516 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes.

The statistics show that 228 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 222 persons placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed by 62 in Faisalabad with 69 victims, and at third 58 RTCS in Gujranwala with 54 victims.

The details further reveal that 1,030 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 829 males and 201 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 181 were under 18 years of age, 544 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 305 victims were reported above 40 years of age.

According to the data 830 motorcycles, 114 auto-rickshaws, 86 motorcars, 28 vans, 06 passenger buses, 39 trucks and 143 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
