Five killed in Punjab road crashes

925 accidents leave 975 injured in 24 hours

At least five people died, whereas 975 were injured in 925 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Out of this, 568 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals.

Whereas, 407 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site.

The majority (68%) involved motorbikes. Further, the analysis showed that 167 drivers, 45 underage drivers, 10 pedestrians, and 80 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes.

The statistics show that 240 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 257 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 76 in Faisalabad with 79 victims, and at third 58 RTCS in Gujranwala with 53 victims.

The details further reveal that 980 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 813 males & 167 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 171 were under 18 years of age, 520 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 289 victims were reported above 40 years of age.

According to the data 795 motorbikes, 120 auto-rickshaws, 76 motorcars, 27 vans, 04 passenger buses, 30 trucks and 121 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
