ATC orders JIT chief to appear in Rangers murder case

The request was made by the public prosecutor

KARACHI:

A special anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday issued summons for the head of the joint investigation team (JIT) investigating the murder of two officials of Pakistan Rangers personnel who were killed by unidentified suspects in the Pak Colony area in 2013.

Lyari gangster leader Uzair Baloch and Muttahida Qaumi Movement's Sheikh Muhammad Sher Shero were produced before ATC Karachi.

The investigation officer of the case also appeared in the court. A request was made by the public prosecutor to summon the head of JIT. The court granted the request.

The court issued notice to JIT chief SSP Fida Hussain Janwari for the next hearing. The court also issued directions to the Additional IG police. It also directed the SSP to bring all the documents at the next hearing. According to police, the suspects had killed two officers, Ijaz and Nasir, after abducting them. The suspects had dumped the mutilated bodies of the victims in the Mewa Shah Cemetery.
