Woman, lover murdered in the ‘name of honour’
A couple was killed in cold blood in the name of honour in Surab district of Balochsitan on Sunday.
Police told The Express Tribune that local tribesmen in Chadd, Surab caught a couple red-handed when they tried to meet at a secret place. It was decided to kill both of them to make them example for others. After the decision the boy was badly thrashed while the woman was shot.
“The girl died on the spot while the boy was alive for hours but later succumbed to his wounds too,” they said.
The unfortunate man has been identified as Muslim Khan who was released after being beaten. Both had a love affair and were meeting each other in secret but their affair was discovered and they were caught red-handed during a meeting.
Every year dozens of couples are killed across Balochistan on the suspicion of love affairs and over honour. In the tribal society traditionally killing someone for honour is considered a matter of great pride.
