The Malakand Division and all merged tribal districts have been exempted from taxes till June 2023, said Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, Regional Tax Office (RTO) Peshawar Khurshid Ahmad Khan Marwat.
Talking to members of the Swat Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Saturday, Marwat said that the federal government had granted the exemption by keeping in view the backwardness of these areas.
He said that on the directive of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Tax Facilitation Centre had been established in Sakhakot, Malakand district, with the purpose of speedy issuance of consumption and exemption certificates to local industrialists.
Marwat assured office-bearers of the chamber that the facilitation centre had no authority to issue notice to any businessmen of any market. In this connection, he urged the people of the tribal area to remain completely satisfied.
Speaking on the occasion, Swat Chamber President Adnan Ali Khan and members of the executive committee expressed gratitude to the chief commissioner for addressing their apprehensions and reservations about the extension of tax laws to the region.
