LAHORE:

Lahore High Court (LHC)’s Justice Jawad Hassan sought a report from home secretary, DIG Operations and others by November 18 on a plea against sit-in of the blind persons on The Mall Road.

The bench was hearing the matter of Judicial Activism Panel, a non-governmental organisation, filed by senior advocate Azhar Siddique.

As the proceedings commenced, Justice Jawad ordered the officers of the quarters concerned to appear in person before the court by next date.

The petitioner’s counsel implored the court that LHC had ordered legislation against the sit-ins and protests on The Mall Road in Muhammad Asghar Khan case. The provincial government had also prepared the draft for legislation on the orders of the court.

He contended that blind persons had staged protest on The Mall Road, so it is prayed the court that an order be passed to quarters concerned to implement the earlier order of the LHC, with letter and spirit, and legislation process be completed so that such activities be stopped from Mall Road.
