HARIPUR:

Authorities on Wednesday sealed the whole parasailing point at Khanpur dam after a tourist crashed to earth when his parasailing line became detached.

A case had been registered against the owner of a service provider and all his equipment was sealed.

Khanpur Assistant Commissioner Noor-ul-Haq had taken notice of a viral video that showed a tourist falling soon after he took off from the ground as his parachute rope broke. Luckily, the tourist had remained unhurt.

After the incident, the Khanpur assistant commissioner visited the dam site and sealed the parasailing and boating points.

AC Haq said that during his visit to the site, he observed that ropes had been tied to boats while the life jackets provided to the tourists were also of poor quality.

He said that service providers had failed to provide helmets and other safety equipment to tourists.

The official said that there was a lack of precautionary measures on the part of the service providers and people’s lives could not be put in danger.

He said that amateur youngsters had been engaged for the service and there was no certified trainer.

He said that tourists would be pulled into the air after making them wear casual life jackets.

Haq said that a major incident could have taken place in the future had the parasailing point not been sealed.
