Punjab governor to take MPs into confidence regarding status during Europe visit

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has said that the European Union’s GSP Plus status was being reviewed.

In a statement issued on Monday, he announced his 10-day visit to Europe at the special invitation of European Parliament Vice President Dr Fabio Masimmo Castaldo. He will take the EU Parliamentarians in confidence regarding review of GSP plus status extension.

Before leaving for Europe, Sarwar said the extension of GSP Plus status for Pakistan was being reviewed in the EU, after which Pakistan has decided to take the European Parliament in confidence on the steps taken by Pakistan in this regard.

He highlighted that several meetings have been scheduled with the Vice President of the European Union, Monitoring Commission, EU and Members of Parliament. “I will also visit the European Parliament on October 13, 2021,” he added.

During his visit to Europe, Sarwar will also hold meetings with European members of parliament as well as human rights organisations and discuss the Kashmir issue, ongoing atrocities in Palestine, Indian conspiracies against peace and Pakistan's involvement in Afghanistan peace process.
