Police say suspects have confessed to killing two friends

Haripur police on Saturday claimed to have solved a blind murder case and arrested two suspects allegedly involved in the killing of two youngsters.

The police also claimed to have recovered a pistol used in the murder and a motorcycle from the possession of the suspects.

Police said the bodies of the victims, Habib and Safiullah, were found two days back and a blind murder case had been registered against unidentified persons on a complaint Nasir, the brother of one of the victims.

After registering the complaint, the police broadened the scope of investigation and arrested two suspects, identified as Niaz Khan and Hamza, within 24 hours of the murder incident.

According to the initial investigation, Hamza told the police that the victims, along with their friends, had allegedly sexually assaulted him and made his naked videos and blackmailed him to extort money from him for one year.

The police said that Hamza had called the victims to a location on a mount and asked them to delete the obscene videos. When the victims refused, he, along with his accomplice, gunned them down and fled the scene.

SP Investigation Mujeebur Rehman and DSP Headquarters Fida Mohammad said at a press conference that the police recovered a pistol and motorcycle from the suspects’ possession.

They said that a case was registered under Section 302 against unidentified suspects. The police traced and arrested the suspects after gathering the call record data of the victims. According to the police, the suspects have confessed to the killing and further investigation is under way.
