Police recover body of victim from storm drain

Kahuta police on Sunday arrested two persons for killing a government servant for the honour.

The government official, who was identified as Zahid Asghar, was killed for having alleged illicit relations with a girl and his body was dumped near the Batala storm drain in Kahuta.

Kahuta police arrested the two suspects, Farooq and Bilal, who killed for honour before dumping the body from near the storm drain.

Muhammad Nauman, who hails from Abbottabad, informed the police that his brother Zahid Asgar worked in a government institution and was deployed in Sialkot. He was at home on holiday for four days and went to Rawalpindi for some work on October 1.

However, the victim did not return until night and his mobile phone also could not be reached.

When the family contacted his friend Rashid Naveed, he told that he had dropped Asghar in Kahuta where he wanted to meet a girl. The victim had also given Naveed the girl’s number.

After a few moments, Zahid texted his friend that the girl’s brother has arrived there and after that, his number went turned off.

The victim’s family then reached the location and contacted the girl’s number.

A woman picked up the call and told Asghar had come to her house but her son Farooq took him somewhere.

After the complaint, the police launched an investigation and arrested the two suspects, who took the police to the crime scene and found the body.

According to the police, the victim had been killed using a sharp tool and stones which was confirmed during the post-mortem.

The police officials said the suspects were cousins.

Saddar SP Kamran Amir said that they were investigating the case further and the suspects will be presented in the court with concrete evidence.
