Centralised system to monitor teachers’ attendance

Sindh Minister for Education and Culture Syed Sardar Ali Shah launched a centralised biometric system which will be used to monitor daily attendance of all teaching staff including lecturers, assistant professors and college principals.

A grand event was organised by the college education department in connection with International Teachers' Day. Awards and shields were also presented to lecturers and principals from all over Sindh.

The central system of attendance of college teachers was developed on the special instructions of the education minister. Shah checked the attendance of college teachers from different cities of Sindh in the demo system.

Meanwhile, the Sindh electronic centralized college admission policy website was also inaugurated. IT Assistant Director Rashid Khoso, while giving a briefing, said that with the help of the system, the record of all students will be available online as will information regarding their admission to colleges.

Addressing the function, the minister for education and culture said that becoming a teacher was a great achievement. "Many countries have very strict steps to become a teacher. The mother's lap is the child's first school, while the teacher is the child's second school," Shah said.

The minister congratulated the department of college education for creating a centralised biometric system and a central admission website. "I am aware of the problems of colleges and I know how much of a hand we have in creating them," he said. "All regional directors should compile a detailed report of the problems of their regions and submit it to the secretary colleges."

Shah further said that the teachers, who were getting their services transferred from villages to the city, were committing an injustice with the children of the nation. He strongly urged college teachers to pay attention to the education of the children and not seek transfers by using unfair means.

The minister instructed teachers to start extracurricular activities for students.

Shah said 2022 will mark 100 years of the discovery of Mohenjo Daro. "In this regard, awareness seminars and speech competitions, along with other activities, will be organised at educational institutions of Sindh," he said.

"Next year, efforts will be made to organise various programs on Mohenjo Daro at the provincial and national levels throughout the year starting from January. At the end of the year, there will be an effort to hold a closing ceremony at UNESCO's headquarters in Paris, France, to draw the attention of all the world's cultural institutions to Mohenjo Daro," he added.
