LAHORE:

After the name of Chaudhry Moonis Elahi appeared in Pandora Papers on Sunday, a spokesperson for Chaudhry brothers said that the assets of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Moonis were “declared as per applicable law”.

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists unveiled Pandora Papers – a major international research into the financial secrets held by high-profile individuals around the world.

Apart from Moonis, the papers named Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin, Senator Faisal Vawda, PPP’s Sharjeel Memon and others among those with alleged links to offshore companies.

The spokesperson said, “In the past due to political victimisation, misleading interpretations and data have been circulated in files for nefarious reasons against them in the name of so-called accountability.”

Separately, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain Sunday said in a tweet that Pandora Papers have exposed more layers of corruption of Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari

He said that Sharjeel Memon and Ali Dar, son-in-law of Nawaz Sharif and son of Ishaq Dar, had no status of their own.

In fact they were the custodians of Nawaz Sharif and Zardari's ill-gotten money.

Fawad Hussain said the nation first saw their real faces exposed in Panama Papers and now again in Pandora Papers. (With input from APP)
