ISLAMABAD:

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has reduced the number of flights of two Kuwaiti airlines to Pakistan after the Gulf state granted permission to PIA to resume flights operation to the country.

PIA had been banned from operating to Kuwait since May 2021, ostensibly to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, even though the Kuwaiti carriers continued to serve Pakistan.

A CAA spokesperson said that not allowing PIA to conduct air operations was a violation of the air services agreement between the two states.

The spokesperson announced curtailing one flight weekly operated by each Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways from October 1 (today).

Approval of PIAC flight operation from Kuwait is subject to the terms of the air service agreement between Pakistan and the Gulf state.
