41 people making 'fake Covid vaccine entry' held

National positivity ratio recorded at 3.6%

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General Sana Ullah Abbasi on Monday said that action has been initiated against individuals for generating fake Covid vaccination certificates.

“Steps are being taken as per guidelines of the National Command and Operation Center and over 41 people have been arrested and FIRs have been registered,” he said while addressing a news conference conference.

The move came after "fake entry" of Covid vaccination was found in the government portal under the name of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who left Pakistan for the United Kingdom in Nov 2019 — months before the first case of the virus was even found in the country.

The FIA director general said the people, who got certificates from the people, were under probe by the

FIA and the agency has called many of them and calling others as well.

He said that their vaccination certificates have been cancelled and the FIA has been working with a complete tracking system to trace the people who were committing crime.

Meanwhile, the national tally of active Covid-19 cases on Monday was recorded at 50,651 as 1,757 more people tested positive for the deadly virus and 1,765 people had recovered from the disease during the past 24 hours.

According to the latest update issued by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 31 corona patients died during the past 24 hours, 29 of whom were under treatment in different hospitals, 12 were on ventilators and two of them perished in their respective quarantines or homes. Most of the deaths occurred in Sindh followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

There were 4,033 Covid infected patients under treatment in critical condition in various Covid dedicated healthcare facilities across the country. National Covid positivity ratio during the past 24 hours was recorded at 3.6%. The maximum percentage of ventilator usage was reported in four major cities namely Multan 86%, Sargodha 60%, Lahore 49% and Peshawar 37%.

The maximum percentage of utilized Oxygen Beds – an alternate oxygen providing facility other than a ventilator administered as per medical requirements of Covid patients, was reported in the four major cities of Peshawar 44%, Multan 44%, Swabi 48% and Sargodha 49%.

Around 475 ventilators were occupied elsewhere in the country while no Covid affected person was on ventilator in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan (GB).

Some 48,732 tests were conducted across the country on Sunday, including 16,050 in Sindh, 15,388 in Punjab, 10,905 in KP, 4,361 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 867 in Balochistan, 503 in GB and 658 in AJK.

Since the pandemic broke out, a total of 1,240,425 cases have been detected so far including the deceased, recovered and under treatment Covid-19 patients, where the area-wise breakdown stands at GB 10,299, Balochistan 32,861, AJK 34,046, ICT 105,120, KP 173,210, Punjab 429,081 and Sindh 455,808.

Around 1,162,177 affected people have recovered from the disease so far across Pakistan, making it a praiseworthy 90% recovery ratio.

About 27,597 deaths have been recorded in country since the eruption of the pandemic. Around 7,350 people have perished in Sindh including the 13 who died in the hospitals and 2 in their own quarantines on Sunday. 12,559 people have died in Punjab with 6 deaths occurring during the past 24 hours where all patients died in the hospitals.

As many as 5,507 people have expired in KP, 9 of them died in hospitals on Sunday, 916 individuals have died in ICT, 1 dying in the hospital on Sunday, 346 people have died in Balochistan, 184 infected people have perished in GB and 735 people have died in AJK.

Currently 640 hospitals are equipped with Covid facilities and a total of 19,240,519 corona tests have been conducted across the country.
