Envoy sees potential for manpower export to Japan

Highlights importance of regional integration with Central Asia

ISLAMABAD:

Japanese companies are keen to invest in Pakistan, especially in the auto sector, said Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan Kuninori Matsuda.

Speaking to Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Omar Ayub on Wednesday, he said that there was a huge potential for enhancing bilateral trade and investment between the two countries and exporting skilled human resources from Pakistan to Japan.

He announced that one of the top automobile companies of Japan was expected to make a huge investment in Pakistan in the near future to enhance the production capacity of hybrid vehicles in a bid to meet the needs of local market as well as to export to other countries.

Matsuda commended efforts of the government of Pakistan for effectively controlling polio given that only one case was reported this year.

The ambassador highlighted the importance of regional integration and connectivity with Central Asia and said that it would open doors to fresh economic opportunities through enhanced trade, investment and tourism.

Matsuda reaffirmed Japan’s support to Pakistan on issues of mutual interest.

“Japanese economic assistance has played a vital role in the socio-economic uplift of Pakistan and it will continue in future,” he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Ayub praised the Japanese ambassador for making extraordinary efforts to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation.

The minister promised full support from the government of Pakistan to the potential Japanese investors for making investment in Pakistan.

He lauded Matsuda for playing a key role in enhancing bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries.

The proactive role of Matsuda helped accelerate the implementation of development projects in the field of education, healthcare, water and sanitation, energy and disaster management.

Both sides reaffirmed their strong commitment to further expand bilateral economic cooperation.
