Sindh set to administer polio drops to 9.4m kids

About 74,435 polio workers will take part in the campaign

KARACHI:

All arrangements have been finalised to launch a week-long anti-polio campaign from Monday during which 9.4 million children up to the age of five years will be administered polio drops in 30 districts of the province.

In this regard a meeting of the Provincial Task Force on Polio Eradication was held at the Sindh Secretariat under the chairmanship of Provincial Health Minister Dr Azra Pechoho and Acting Chief Secretary Qazi Shahid Pervez.

The meeting was attended by all the divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, Peoples Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI), World Health Organization (WHO), National Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and other officials.

The meeting was informed that the concerned authorities are into close contact with concerned officials in 30 districts of the province regarding the campaign while training of polio workers has already been completed. It was also informed that 74,435 polio workers would take part in the campaign.
