Punjab govt will engage private parties to build hostels in Rawalpindi

The Punjab government has decided to build hostels for working women in major districts of Punjab, including Rawalpindi.

These hostels will be built under the public-private partnership model at a cost of Rs1 billion. An official said that the purpose of building separate hostels for working women was to ensure their safety.

He said that the Punjab government had started a liaison with various consultants to work on the project. He said that the Punjab government will allocate land and space to private parties and get NOCs from various utility departments, including ISCO, WASA and other departments.

The official said that the private party will spend Rs1 billion on the execution of the project. During the initial phase, the private party will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the hostels. The private party will provide security and food and other facilities to the women living in these hostels, the official said.

He said that the local administration has started looking for an appropriate place to build hostels for women in Rawalpindi. The official said that the hostels will be constructed on public land near Murree Road so that women studying and working in Rawalpindi and Islamabad could be accommodated there.
