The Hajj Policy of 2010, in which fares have been raised by Rs6,000, has been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC).
The new Hajj policy also implies some restrictions. It states that pilgrims who offered Hajj during the past five years cannot go for Hajj this year.
The Hajj policy drew fire in the Senate, with the standing committee on religious affairs rejecting the policy. They demanded that the government should reduce Hajj fares to provide some relief to intending pilgrims.
