LAHORE:

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has said that rights of journalists are being ensured in Pakistan Media Development Authority (PMDA).

Fawad made these remarks while talking to a delegation of journalists led by Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari here on Sunday.

The minister maintained that journalists and media workers would be included in Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Naya Pakistan Housing Project and provided five and 10-marla apartments.

He said a commission was being formed to oversee PMDA, adding that representatives of journalist organisations and prominent personalities would be a part of it.

Journalist organisations should play their role for curbing the flow of incorrect news and dissemination of right information, he added.

Fawad urged the Lahore Press Club to come forward with its recommendations for the proposed legislation on media.

He recalled that the existing media laws were updated in 2002 but had been unable to meet the needs of media especially in the digital arena.
