Men in speeding car harass woman

KARACHI:

Around half a dozen boys in a speeding car harassed a woman on the streets in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block-7.

According to the FIR lodged at Gulshan-e-Iqbal Police Station on Sunday, the complainant said she was heading home from a private university, where she works as a deputy registrar, when six to seven young boys in a speeding vehicle overtook her car.

The perpetrators hollered curses at her, grabbed her arm, tried to pull her out of the car and sexually harassed her, stated the complainant, identified as Laila. She added that when a small crowd amassed around them, the boys harassed the witnesses too.

Receiving a complaint on Madadgar 15, the police reached the spot but the perpetrators had fled by then.

The case was lodged at the Gulshan-e-Iqbal Police Station against the unidentified perpetrators.

A video statement of the woman, in which she asks the city authorities to ensure protection for women, was met by further trolling and harassment on social media.
