Power supply to significant parts of Karachi was disrupted on Wednesday after the entire K-Electric system had tripped following a lightning strike on the Jamshoro circuit.

According to media reports, several areas including Defence, Clifton, Saddar, MA Jinnah Road, Malir, North Nazimabad, Nazimabad, North Karachi and others remained without electricity for many hours.

Restoration efforts are swiftly underway. Supply to all grids has been normalized and feeder level restoration is underway. Power supply to Karachi is continuing through nearly 1107 feeders out of 1900 with strategic locations including (1/2)
K-Electric said that the power was restored at Dhabeji Water Pumping Station and Karachi Airport as well.
Dhabeji Water Pumping Station and Karachi Airport also powered up. Parts of PECHS, Korangi, Surjani, Gulistan-e-Johar, Clifton, Federal B Area, Shah Faisal have also been restored. We continue to work actively to restore power to the city. (2/2)

In another tweet earlier, the KE said that the power supply to the port city was disrupted due to tripping in an EHT transmission line caused by lightning strike on the Jamshoro circuit, resulting in disconnection between KE and NTDC circuits.
