Eight die in 984 road crashes in Punjab

1,036 people were injured in last 24 hours

At least eight people died, whereas 1,036 were injured in 984 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Out of this, 580 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals. Whereas, 455 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site.

The majority (67%) involved motorbikes. Further, the analysis showed that 136 drivers, 43 underage drivers, 34 pedestrians, and 96 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes.

The statistics show that 266 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 266 persons placing the provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 85 in Faisalabad with 91 victims and at third Gujranwala with 59 RTCs and 55 victims.

The details further reveal that 1,035 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 850 males & 193 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 196 were under 18 years of age, 564 were between 18 and 40 years and the rest of the 219 victims were reported above 40 years of age.

According to the data 844 motorbikes, 108 auto-rickshaws, 98 motorcars, 19 vans, 06 passenger buses, 31 trucks and 157 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
