Covid death toll past 6,600 with 21 more fatalities

Sindh confirms over 1,110 fresh infections

Another 22 people succumbed to the coronavirus in Sindh, which reported more than 1,100 new infections on Sunday. According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's House, 1,118 cases emerged when 13,946 samples were tested for the contagion.

The provincial pandemic death toll and tally of confirmed cases rose to 6,612 and 420,911, respectively, said CM Syed Murad Ali Shah. Another 740 persons also regained health overnight, bringing the number of recoveries thus far to 366,475, added Shah.

Sharing immunisation data, the CM said that 29.48 per cent of the adult population has been vaccinated against the coronavirus with 10,098,341 doses administered thus far.

At least 47,824 persons are currently under treatment for Covid-19 in the province, said Shah. Of these, 46,193 were in home isolation, 35 at isolation centres and 1,224 at different hospitals. The condition of 1,094 patients was stated to be critical, with at least 85 shifted on ventilators.

Of the 1,118 new cases, 525 were detected in Karachi.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad reported 280 new infections, Badin 46, Sanghar 35, Matiari and Shaheed Benazirabad each reported 30 new cases, Tharparkar 24 and Jamshoro 23.
