Girls high school opens in Miranshah after eight years

MIRANSHAH:

The Education Department has reopened the historic Government Girls High School in Miranshah Saray. Around 200 girl students attended the classes on the very first day.

Talking to The Express Tribune Assistant Education Officer (AEO) Fida Khan Wazir said that when he took the charge of his post he discovered that the important school was closed because the school had been destroyed in a blast eight years ago and since then it was closed.

“The students had been sent Colony High School situated nearby which is located at a distance from Miranshah city. The building was rebuilt but no one wanted to take the risk of reopening it,” he said, adding that on Monday the District Education Officer (DEO) Jadoon Khan took a groups of 200 girl students and enrolled them at the new school.

“Sweets and chocolates were distributed among the children. The school is a modern facility with a well equipped Computer Lab and the number of students will grow in the coming days,” he said.

Meanwhile parents have praised the Education Department for the step and hoped that it will greatly facilitate the girls education in the tribal district
