Man accused of honour killing held

He axed his wife to death as his son kept guard at the gate

KARACHI:

The police arrested on Tuesday a man accused of honour killing in Memon Goth.

According to the police, the decapitated body of a woman, identified as Hayatan Bibi, 60, was found inside a house on March 17. The woman's husband, Hazar Lashari, son of Khair Muhammad Lashari and his son, Zahoor, allegedly killed Bibi on the pretext of honour. Both the prime suspects had been on the run.

A case was lodged under Section 302 [pertaining to intentional murder] of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Quoting Hazar Lashari's statement to the police, cops said Hazar suspected his wife of being involved with his neighbour and killed her.

He axed his wife to death as his son kept guard at the gate.

The police added that Zahoor also killed the neighbour, Allah Bux, when he opened fire at his shop on August 13. Zahoor and an accomplice of his are still at large.
