Missing man found dead, hanging from a tree

The suspects subjected the victim to torture before stabbing him to death with a sharp-edged object

The tortured body of a labourer who went missing two weeks ago was found hanging from a tree in Machar Colony area of Docks police station on Saturday.

Sources said the body of 27-year-old Noorul Amin Abdul Salam was found hanging from a tree in the wee hours on Saturday and police and rescue workers were called in who immediately reached on the spot and shifted the body to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital for legal formalities.

The victim belonging to the marginalised Bengali community worked as a labourer at a fish cleaning and packing factory at the Karachi Fish Harbour. He allegeldly had an altercation with his employer, after which he went missing. Sources said the body is three to four days old. The suspects subjected the victim to torture before stabbing him to death with a sharp-edged object.

The victim’s elder brother, Bilal, informed that they are residents of Machar Colony’s Bengali Para area and are seven siblings of which the victim was the father of a five-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter. The victim left his house for work on the morning of August 2 and never returned.

Bilal said he searched his brother by every possible means and subsequently filed a formal report. He appealed to the government for a fair investigation into the murder of his brother and stringent punishment may be given to the perpetrators.
