PIA to fly in 10m Covid jabs from China
National flag carrier has already delivered more than 35 million doses
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will run eight special flights to airlift 10 million doses of the Covid vaccine from China to Pakistan on Thursday.
PIA Country Manager for China Qadir Bux Sangi told APP that some of the flights of the national flag carrier will leave Beijing Airport later today, with the Chinese vaccines onboard.
“So far PIA has brought around 35 million doses of the Sinopharm and CanSino vaccines to Pakistan from China”, he said.
The government intends to achieve its target of administering 70 million jabs to people through its nationwide vaccination campaign.

National Command and Operation Center chief Asad Umar took to his official Twitter handle to announce that 40 million jabs against Covid have been administered across the country so far.
“The last crore [10 million] took only 9 working days to administer”, he said on Thursday.

Asad Umar encouraged Pakistan to keep it up and make itself “safe from this disease”.
In the past 24 hours, 102 people have died all over the country due to Covid, with 4934 cases surfacing.
Statistics show that 59,000 tests for the virus were conducted in the past day. The positivity rate remains 8.3%.
