The police claimed to have arrested on Tuesday a target killer involved in the Lyari gangwar and to have found a 9mm pistol and narcotics in his possession.

A team from Baghdadi Police Station arrested Ubaidullah son of Abdullah during a raid on Ahmed Shah Bukhari Road near Phool Patti Lane.

According to City SSP Sarfaraz Nawaz, the alleged target killer is affiliated with the Baba Ladla Group of the Lyari gangwar.  The SSP said that the arrested suspect is a professional target killer, a drug peddler and a habitual criminal. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to multiple murders and attempted murders carried out with his accomplices at the behest of Zahid Ladla, said the SSP.

He added that the suspect, along with his accomplices, Ali and Saleh, opened fire at a man named Naseer Wehshi, killing him, near Dubai Chowk on July 3rd at the behest of Zahid Ladla.

Following Zahid’s directives, the alleged target killer shot and injured another citizen, Saddam, near Phool Patti Lane on November 15, 2020, said the SSP, adding that Saddam later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Moreover, according to the police, Ubaidullah opened fire at a man named Rehman, also on the directives of Zahid. A bystander Karrim Bux was injured in the incident, said the SSP

Besides, the arrested suspect is nominated in a drugs case registered at Baghdadi Police Station. The criminal record of the suspect is being sought.

The police said that the weapon confiscated from Ubaidullah has been sent for ballistic analysis and further investigation is underway. Raids are being carried out for the arrest of Zahid and his accomplices.
