RAWALPINDI: Two young boys lost their lives on Saturday night while trying to perform wheelies on their motorcycle on Airport Road near district court, police said.

Shamoon Mashi and Waqas Mashi, both 18-years-old, died on their way to the hospital, apparently due to head injuries sustained after they lost control of their bike.

Civil lines police said the youths were residents of Chaklala and were out celebrating Independence Day. Young boys created problems on Murree Road, Sixth Road, Airport Road and Committee Chowk, even though the district administration had imposed Section 144 in the city. Police impounded as many as 68 motorcycles and fined around 450 bikers for violating traffic laws and for one-wheeling.

To stop one-wheeling, the traffic police distributed the city in eight sectors, with each being taken care of by one traffic warden.
