Balochistan government spokesman Liaquat Shahwani on Monday hinted at taking ‘tough decisions’ in order to curb the resurgence of the coronavirus in the province.
About 94 new cases of Covid-19 were reported over the past 24 hours and as many as 946,540 people were screened, according to the daily situation report of the government. Moreover, the province reported a positivity ratio of 7.31%.
“The number of cases of coronavirus is increasing in the province. Tough decisions will have to be taken,” Shahwani said while talking to reporters at the Officers Club Quetta.
The spokesman termed the fourth wave of coronavirus as an “alarm bell.”

Delta was the most dangerous type of corona that was spreading rapidly, he said and reiterated that the government would be forced to make tough decisions. “People do not follow SOPs without lockdown and strictness. If there is a lockdown, cases will decrease,” Shahwani said.
He claimed that the province has no shortage of vaccines, adding that daily many people are being vaccinated. The spokesman said that a vaccination facility was available at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office gate, stressing that travel would be banned without vaccination.
“The vaccination certificate is mandatory,” he said, “People will be forced to follow SOPs.”
